    The Katanga mineralization was introduced before and during the compressional folding of the sedimentary basin. It generally consists of primary chalcocite, chalcopyrite (copper sulfides) and cobaltite (cobalt sulfide), but in the oxide zone (this photo), most of the copper sulfides have been altered to green malachite and blue-green chrysocolla, and the cobaltite to silver-black heterogenite (a cobalt oxide).
